This photographer captures fascinating images of in-home deliveries. The photographer strongly desires to increase awareness of the normal delivery process.

Tina claims that huᴍᴀɴs have the propensity to find delivery ᴛᴇʀʀɪғʏing and to be afraid of the procedure. The bulk of birth tales that we hear from members of our community and that are portrayed in the media usually induce this worry in us. There is a choice, though, and in my opinion, it’s one of the biggest mysteries being kept from women in society right now.

Since hospital deliveries can save lives, as Tina points out, the purpose is not to criticize them, and it is true that the availability of medical care has made high-ʀɪsᴋ births less ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀᴏᴜs. But ᴍᴀɴy more interventions are carried out on Pʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ women than are necessary, safe, or healthful. Examples include labour induction, cesarean sections, and mechanical births.

I hope that women would actively contribute to altering the current birth culture in Iɴᴅɪᴀ by training to be doulas or midwives and by making informed choices regarding their own births.
