Tiny ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ Zoe and Olivia grew up together in the ᴡᴏᴍʙ for 29 weeks prior to becoming on display in public. They were forced to spend a month apart despite never needing to be separated before to prevent one twin from unintentionally suffocating the other.
The awful moment when Zoe reached out to hug her sister was all the more heartbreaking because it took doctors 27 days to conclude that the ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ were strong enough to be reunited.
Ann, 29, from Aᴜsᴛʀᴀʟɪᴀ, stated, “We had been waiting so long for the girls to meet that when the day finally came, we couldn’t believe it. After exactly 27 days, our first ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ’ embrace exceeded our expectations.
Zoe turned to face Olivia once she was on top of me and extended her left arm in an embrace. It was a moment I’ll never forget as tears began to fill up in my eyes.
Mother AnnLe’s pregnancy was high-ʀɪsᴋ because both of her precious ʙᴀʙʏ girls shared the same amniotic sac. In multiple pregnancies known as unilateral monoamniotic ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ, there is only a 50% chance that the ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ will live past 26 weeks.
Ann, from Melbourne, Aᴜsᴛʀᴀʟɪᴀ, had to undergo an ultrasound every two weeks starting at 10 weeks of pregnancy in order to track the development of the girls.
Ann said that the crying Olivia was quickly removed from the area. When the doctor arrived, Zoe was crouching, so it took some time for her to be released. She made no sounds or move, which made us very worried. Both girls were swiftly taken to the pediatric ward by midwives for examination.
After only one short month, Ann got the much-anticipated twin cuddles. A proud mother’s day the Instagram image was shared by a user. Ann now hopes to get her daughters back home by the middle of April.
She continued, “It was very difficult for my husband and me, but now that they had been in the hospital for over a month, their chances of survival are better than 95%.”
