Despite being one of the most feared and dominant heavyweight champions in boxing history, Mike Tyson still advised his son not to follow in his footsteps.
The steel puncher shared: “I had a 16-year-old eldest son who told me he wanted to become a professional boxer. But wait, that’s silly, he went to a private school! traveling to Europe, you’ve traveled around the world. You can’t become a warrior when you have those things. You want to fight “animals” like me?
I don’t want my children to go through that, it’s so vile! With boxing, you should come to it when you have nothing in hand because you have to go through pain and sacrifice a lot. I tried to endure all of those things so that life would treat my children more gently.
When I look at them, I see images of middle-class children who go to school and can do everything they want.
To be a boxer is to want to be the best, to outperform everyone. I don’t want to put that pressure on my children.”
