The journey of Mrs. Mangayamma Yaramati and her late husband, Mr. Yerramatti Raja Rao, became an inspiration for many, shedding light on the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

It wasn’t until 2018 that they heard about a medical breakthrough – a woman in their village had given birth through in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Intrigued by this newfound possibility, the couple decided to take a chance and pursue their dream of parenthood. They reached out to Dr. Umashankar Sanakkayala, an expert in artificial insemination, and embarked on a journey that would change their lives forever.
Their journey, however, was not without challenges. Due to the absence of proper documentation, there was a misunderstanding about Mangayamma’s age, leading to the assumption that she was in her 50s. It was only during the 8th month of pregnancy that her true age of 73 came to light. Despite this shocking revelation, Mangayamma’s determination and unwavering desire to become a mother drove her forward.
The twins, Rama Tulasi and Uma Tulasi, were born via cesarean section in September 2019, marking Mangayamma as the world’s oldest pregnant woman. The birth was celebrated as a marvel of medical science and a testament to the strength of human ambition. However, joy turned to sorrow as tragedy struck the family. In a heartbreaking turn of events, Mr. Yerramatti passed away suddenly, leaving Mangayamma to navigate the challenges of raising two young children as a single mother.
Now, at 74, Mangayamma faces a future filled with uncertainty. The loss of her husband has cast a shadow over the family’s newfound happiness. Despite the difficulties, she remains resolute in her determination to provide a bright future for her daughters. While she has made arrangements for their care in the event of her passing, she clings to the hope of seeing them grow up and flourish.
Reflecting on her journey, Mangayamma shares, “It is extremely difficult for us when he is gone. But I am still here, I will use my boundless love with my two little girls to continue living.” Her story is a testament to the power of love, hope, and the indomitable spirit that propels individuals to overcome even the most daunting challenges.
