Vin Diesel sobbed talking about Paul Walker during the movie screening

The 49-year-old actor said Paul Walker’s legacy still “lives in every frame” of “Fast & Furious 8”

On March 29 in Las Vegas, USA, a surprise screening of The Fate of the Furious took place at CinemaCon – the annual conference of movie theater owners – making many fans excited.

Before that, Vin Diesel had an interaction with the audience at CinemaCon. According to Variety , he sobbed and covered his eyes with his hands as he remembered Paul Walker – his late co-star in the Fast & Furious film series . The 49-year-old actor expressed: “Paul Walker himself promised there would be an eighth part. I kept thinking about this idea.”

According to Entertainment Weekly , Diesel cried while sharing: “I always feel like he’s still watching over us. We don’t want to disappoint him. Part of Paul’s legacy still lives in every frame of The Fate of the Furious . Audiences will be reminded of an angel, who was an integral part of the theme of brotherhood in previous films.”

Paul Walker died in a car accident in 2013 at the age of 40. At that time, the actor had not yet finished filming the seventh installment of Fast & Furious . Some of his images in season seven were recreated using special effects and stunt actors – including his two younger brothers. In season eight, the writers retired Walker’s character.

The Fate of the Furious is the sequel to Furious 7 – the 2015 blockbuster that grossed more than 1.5 billion USD globally. It is expected that episode eight will open a new Fast & Furious trilogy and the series will stop at episode 10.

Filming of season eight spanned three countries – Cuba, Iceland and the US. Familiar actors from the series such as Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Elsa Pataky or Tyrese Gibson all return. In addition, the film adds actors Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood and 71-year-old veteran star Helen Mirren.

The Fate of the Furious  is co-produced by Vin Diesel with Neal H. Moritz and Michael Fottrell. Screenwriter Chris Morgan, who wrote the script for the entire  Fast & Furious series , continues to pen the eighth installment. The film is scheduled to be released on April 14.
